Burson-Marsteller’s UK chairman, Nigel Whittaker, resigned last
month after almost two years in the post. Whittaker reported to European
CEO Ken Rietz and oversaw the agency’s 215 London-based staff. He was
responsible for business development, staff management and some client
handling. Whittaker’s responsibilities are being assumed by senior
London-based staff, including Rietz, until his replacement is found.
Whittaker holds several non-executive posts at companies including DIY
chain Wickes. He plans to continue working for B-M on a project basis.
Whittaker’s career prior to joining B-M included a stint as corporate
affairs director at Kingfisher.
