Entertainment Capital Advisors (ECA), which launched this week, has been established to advise growth companies and firms looking to divest or acquire others in the entertainment sector. The firm aims to raise between $500 and $1bn of capital for these companies over the next three years.
Cubitt's role will be to advise on communications strategy, the brand launch, media relations preparation and delivery in the national and vertical business and entertainment sectors, as well as stakeholder outreach including the investment community.
The London-based firm has already received three client mandates, including advising on a $200m Middle Eastern fundraising, and a pre-IPO advisory role for a Hollywood/Asian joint venture production company.
The Cubitt team will be led by Cubitt managing partner Simon Brocklebank-Fowler. The appointment followed a competitive pitch process.
The firm is co-founded by Premila Hoon (pictured), the former global head of media and entertainment structured finance at Société Générale.
ECA's shareholders include Aramid Capital Partners, a $300m film fund which has invested in more than 50 media development projects in recent years.
