Xerox has promoted Mel Foster to the post of marketing
communications director for Europe, the Middle East and Africa
Foster was previously marketing director for Xerox’s small business and
small home products subsidiary Channels. He replaces Paul Rutherford,
who moved to IBM last month to become marketing director for EMEA
Foster will oversee PR, advertising and internet strategy. He reports to
deputy managing director Bill Goode. Foster will recruit specialists for
all three sectors, and has yet to name his PR head.
Xerox retains Text 100 for pan-European, including UK, PR, and around 20
other agencies across the EMEA region.
Foster will co-ordinate PR between the company’s regional headquarters
in the UK and its operating teams.
The company is accelerating its push into digital technology for
products such as printers. This year the company announced that it would
restructure and cut 9,000 jobs worldwide in order to cut costs and boost
its move into the digital industry.
