Mike Ewing, director of corporate affairs at BET, has quit the company
following its pounds 2 billion takeover by rival business services group
Rentokil in April.
Ewing, left BET at the end of last month after being invited to accept
redundancy along with several other directors in charge of the day-to-
day running of the business.
Heading a department of around ten staff, Ewing was responsible for
overall PR, including investor relations and internal communication. He
also managed human resources, a function which has since been taken over
by Rentokil’s management development director Ken Bowman.
Ewing’s remaining responsibilities have been absorbed by Charles
Grimaldi, group corporate affairs director at Rentokil, and his team of
Grimaldi explained that, following the BET takeover,Ewing’s role had
become superfluous. ‘You don’t need two people looking after corporate
affairs,’ he said.‘We are a very mean and lean team.’
