NEW YORK: Hill and Knowlton’s global public affairs practice chair,
Tom Buckmaster, is leaving to head Edelman PR Worldwide’s New York
With dollars 40 million (pounds 25 million) revenue, Edelman NY is the
second largest PR firm in New York after Burson-Marsteller, and
co-headquarters of the Edelman network. Buckmaster replaces Michael
Morley, who was made president of Edelman International six months ago.
He will oversee a team of 330 staff and report to Pamela Talbot,
president of Edelman US.
Buckmaster’s role is the equivalent of MD in a UK firm. He has also been
made vice-chairman of Edelman Worldwide, a role which allows him to
collaborate with other senior Edelman staff.
During his time with H&K, Buckmaster managed clients including the
Prudential and Sara Lee Corporation. He was global public affairs
practice chair and general manager of H&K’s Washington office for three
years, during which time he built the office’s fee income to dollars 20
million (pounds 12.5 million).
According to president and CEO Richard Edelman, Buckmaster’s experience
will help strengthen Edelman New York’s crisis communications, corporate
reputation, public affairs, internal and financial communications.
