Ian Todd, the former director of information at P & O European
Ferries, has been appointed as head of PR at Hoverspeed.
Todd, who took voluntary redundancy from P&O European Ferries after it
merged with Stena Line (PR Week, 11 October 1996), starts work at
Hoverspeed next week.
His appointment comes after a wholesale review of PR by Hoverspeed -
part of the Sea Containers company.
Marketing director John Smith said: ’We decided to review the way we do
our PR as part of a whole range of reviews of our communications
strategy.’ Following the review, the company ended its contract with
Christine Davey Associates, after working with the agency for 18
Todd will be responsible for PR operations across the whole of Europe
and Scandinavia and may hire outside PR consultancies. ’It’s up to him
to put together a PR team,’ said Smith.
Hoverspeed increased its number of passengers by 27 per cent last year,
and the number of cars carried increased by 11 per cent.
