Copithorne and Bellows, the US hi-tech agency, is to set up a

London-based operation later this year.

The agency, which is part of Omnicom’s Porter Novelli International

group and headquartered in San Francisco, already has a branch in France

but no permanent base in the UK.

C&B’s international managing director David Schneider said the company

was not seeking to be a dominant player in the UK PR market, but needed

a London presence to serve existing clients.

He added that A Plus and Countrywide Porter Novelli - sister agencies

within the Omnicom network - had been informed about C&B’s plans and

that the new office could be used to ease client conflict for both

firms.

C&B set up its Grenoble office in 1995 to handle work for

Hewlett-Packard.

Other European clients include Key Tronic Corporation, and Platinum

Technology.
