Recently privatised research facility, the Laboratory of the

Government Chemist, has hired Financial Dynamics’ corporate division -

the first such appointment in its 155 year history.

FD’s corporate division - which was launched under David Lloyd last year

- beat off three other agencies, including Shandwick Consultants, to

land the business which is thought to carry fees of just under pounds

100,000.

The agency’s task is to help the LGC market its services to the private

sector following its sale last April to a consortium of management, the

Royal Society of Chemistry and venture capitalist 3i.

The LGC is also looking for new business in areas such as DNA testing,

food analysis, forensic investigations and environmental services.

’We need to penetrate new markets and build an awareness of what we can

offer’, said LGC chief executive Dr Richard Worswick.
