Leeds-based Grey North Communications has adopted a bullish approach to
promoting a client’s upcoming sale.
Spurred on by the Doncaster motorcycle retailer Carnell Motorcycle
Showrooms’ previous references to its annual sale as a ‘no-bull’ event,
Grey North suggested the wheeze of drafting in an actual bovine.
The next problem was how to find one. The answer of course was to run a
PR campaign. Along with execrable puns - inconsolabull, malleabull,
bulldozed etc. - the campaign generated stories in local papers and on
Radio 5 Live.
Gerry mac Griogair, agency senior account director - and one of the
guilty men behind 58 of the said puns - tells me: ‘It’s certainly got
people talking about motorbikes - and that’s no bull.’
Some people just don’t know when to stop.
