Recruitment consultants apparently vie with estate agents as the
profession that people love to hate, according to a new survey
commissioned by recruitment specialist Major Players. Complaints range
from failing to understand the client’s business, to not briefing
candidates properly, and putting forward ‘totally inappropriate’
candidates.
But the most shocking finding was that only half the clients surveyed
felt confident that their own staff would not be poached by their
recruitment consultancy acting for other clients. Any PR consultancy
behaving in this cavalier fashion would deserve to be drummed out of the
business.
The only hope is that the reality is less damning than the perception.
Even so, this survey shows that these firms have a major PR task to
improve their reputation among the industries they serve.
