New directory from IT Systems
Information Technology Systems has launched a quarterly electronic media
directory called MediaTrack. The product contains 90,000 advertising,
film, television, print, radio, events and music contacts.
Barton takes over Today
Jon Barton, editor of the BBC’s One O’Clock and Six O’Clock News has
been named as editor of Radio 4’s Today programme. He will be replaced
by Radio 5 Live executive editor Jonathan Baker.
ITN takes on Dhaliwal
Daljit Dhaliwal has been appointed presenter of ITN World News.
Dhaliwal, a freelance presenter on ITN World News since December 1995,
replaces Katie Haswell who has left to join the BBC’s The Really
No plans to replace BBC’s O’Kill
BBC news and current affairs has announced that, due to cut backs, no
plans have been made to replace Peter O’Kill, BBC TV news programme
editor, who recently took voluntary early retirement. His
responsibilities will be shared among the editorial staff.
Naked Talent to launch in 1997
Naked Productions is to launch Naked Talent, a monthly style magazine
designed to reveal Britain’s ‘unexposed talent’. The magazine will be
distributed by Time Out Distribution early next year.
ARK 2 goes to South Africa
ARK2, the Christian lifestyle TV channel which has recently lost cable
carriage in Britain, has signed a pounds 1.3 million deal with UPLINK, a
new South African satellite channel, to air its 20 hours of current
affairs, music, feature and children’s programmes.
Carpenter moves to Telegraph
Louise Carpenter, features editor of Marie Claire, has been made
assistant editor of theTelegraph Magazine. She replaces Will Ellsworth-
Jones who has been promoted to deputy editor.
Joyce quits 19 for freelance role
April Joyce, editor of IPC magazine’s 19, has left to go freelance. Lee
Kynaston will be acting editor until the role is filled.
