The Duchess of York has been using freelance consultant Penny Furniss to
help manage media interest in the promotional blitz that has surrounded
the publication of her autobiography, it emerged this week.
Fergie, whose recent activities have included a transatlantic book tour
in support of My Story and TV interviews with Ruby Wax and Oprah
Winfrey, appointed Furniss on a four-week freelance basis.
Kate Waddington, the Duchess’s assistant, said Fergie had first met
Furniss while the consultant was working on assignments for Tommy’s
Campaign and the Duchess’s charity Children in Crisis.
‘Penny came in to help during the UK and American media tours while I
was travelling with the Duchess,’ she said.
Waddington said Furniss had been working in partnership with Midas PR,
which has been promoting My Story, and the Duchess’s New York-based
global consultancy Rubenstein Associates.
