UK-based childcare charity the European Children’s Trust is seeking
its first head of public affairs.
The post will report to the charity’s chief executive Donald McCready
and will be responsible for relations with governments, the European
Commission and funding bodies such as the World Bank.
The post will also oversee media relations and profile-raising for the
charity. PR and campaigns manager Kate Pierce will report to the new
director.
The European Children’s Trust was set up eight years ago as the Romanian
Orphanage Trust and was renamed last June. It has not had a government
relations function before, although some aspects of the role were
previously handled by the programmes department, which runs the
charity’s aid projects.
Pierce, who is not applying for the post, said: ’This is recognising the
need for charities like us to increase their profile in the media and
with Government bodies and officials.’
