The Audit Commission, the local government and NHS spending
watchdog, has re-tendered its three-year PR and public affairs account,
currently held by Citigate Westminster.
The account, which is due to be awarded in the next two months, carries
a pounds 250,000 budget, of which ten per cent is dedicated to
evaluation and research.
The brief involves running the Commission’s press office, political
monitoring and organising events and conferences. The agency will report
to Stuart Smith, the Commission’s head of communications.
’We promote the best use of public money and are looking for an agency
with experience of the public sector - that is of prime importance,’
The Audit Commission appoints auditors for the pounds 100 billion of
public money spent every year by local government and the NHS and also
publishes about 150 reports a year on trends in public expenditure.
