Two generalist Belgian consultancies have merged to form the
country’s second largest PR agency.
Interel, currently the third largest Belgian agency in PR Week’s 1997
European league table, and Ine Marien and Partners, the ninth largest
firm, will form a new group, Interel Marien. The group, which launches
officially in January 1998, will have a fee income of over pounds 2
million, according to last year’s figures, and employ 53 people. Interel
Marien is second in fee income to Burson-Marsteller Brussels .
’The company wants to specialise in the co-ordination and implementation
of pan-European PR campaigns from Brussels, mainly through collaboration
agreements with foreign PR consultancies,’ said managing partner
Jean-Leopold Schuybroek.
Interel was created in 1983 and has subsidiaries in France, Czech
Republic, Slovakia, and Interel Washington DC in the US. It handles
pan-European accounts for healthcare company Baxter, bio-technology firm
Monsanto, and telephone operator Ameritech.
Ine Marien will join Schuybroek as a managing partner of the new agency.
