De Facto wins Sphere brief.

De Facto Communications has been brought in by Sphere Medical to raise awareness of its blood chemistry monitoring technology among medical device manufacturers and anaesthetists working in critical care. De Facto was selected after a four-way pitch.

Freshwater UK has bolstered its healthcare team with the hire of two account directors Meral Nugent and Charlotte Tyler. Nugent joins from the Central Office of Information, while Tyler joins from Comic Relief. Louisa Desborough and Suzy Garrett have been promoted to joint heads of the division.

North East Strategic Health Authority has brought in Liz Davies as senior communications officer. She joins from her role as account manager at Golley Slater Newcastle. She also previously worked at Mid Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust.

Bupa has appointed Synergy to handle PR for its sponsorship of the Great Run Series after a competitive pitch. The agency will work in partnership with Bupa's in-house media team to promote this year's programme and develop a long-term PR strategy for the sponsorship.
