Sri Lanka looks to Buffalo for PR boost

Buffalo Communications has been appointed to raise Sri Lanka's profile for UK outsourcing, following the end of the civil war.

Sri Lankan development body SLASSCOM has chosen the outsourcing specialist agency to attract UK investment in Sri Lanka, challenging India's grip on the outsourcing market.

The consultancy will be communicating the country's improved business prospects since the war, which ended in May.

SLASSCOM general secretary Madu Ratnayake said: 'Now that the conflict is over, the real potential of the country can be developed.'

Buffalo will deliver a marketing comms strategy across UK and mainland Europe, helping the country to target small and medium-sized enterprises for outsourced IT and business process outsourcing.

Buffalo will use both traditional media relations and online b2b comms channels, while developing a series of high-profile outsourcing events. The agency will also be handling analyst relations and public affairs.

For more than 25 years, the insurgency in Sri Lanka caused significant hardships for the population, environment and the economy.
