Omnicom-owned PR firm Fleishman-Hillard has opened two new offices
in Tokyo and Shanghai and has plans to open a further four in Asia over
the next year.
The group is looking to expand into Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia and
India and will also look at setting up in Australia. It already has four
offices in Singapore, Hong Kong, Manila and Beijing.
John Graham, chairman and chief executive of Fleishman-Hillard, said the
expansion reflected the rapid increase in new business, both from
existing clients and Western companies starting up in Asia. ’We continue
to see exciting new business opportunities in Asia and we are committed
to expanding our presence there.’
The group’s clients in Asia include American brewer Anheuser-Busch,
Rolls Royce, BMW and Nortel, the Northern Telecoms company.
The Tokyo office will be managed by senior vice president and managing
director Shin Tanaka, who has worked for major Japanese companies such
as Honda and Sega. The office will initially employ five people and over
the next six months will build up consumer, financial, technology and
In Shanghai the office will be run by managing director Jai Guangwei,
who is transferring from the Fleishman-Hillard operation in Beijing.
The office will open with a staff of four who will work closely with the
staff in Beijing on PR strategies for the whole of China.
Fleishman-Hillard is the sixth biggest international PR firm and has
offices across the US and Europe.
