NEWS: Management buy out likely if Prima can’t fit B-M role

Prima, Burson-Marsteller’s specialist regulation consultancy, could be spun out of the group in a management buyout as B-M’s worldwide restructuring gathers pace.

Prima, Burson-Marsteller’s specialist regulation consultancy, could be

spun out of the group in a management buyout as B-M’s worldwide

restructuring gathers pace.

Originally part of City and Corporate Counsel which was absorbed by B-M

in 1991, Prima gives advice to companies on regulatory issues in the UK

and Europe.

The consultancy, whose clients include Glaxo Wellcome and British Gas,

has eight staff headed by MD Roger Liddle.

B-M’s UK chief executive Alison Canning explained that the reform of B-

M’s global structure into practice areas, begun in April, left a number

of subsidiaries, including Prima, without a clear role.

‘We are having to find out how to fit some companies in with the new

structure,’ she said, adding that a management buyout was under

consideration.

A restructuring of Prima’s share ownership was also a possibility, she

said.
