Hi-tech specialist The Words Group has launched a financial
services arm, to be known as The Financial Word.
The new agency, which was launched this week, is jointly owned by The
Words Group and freelance financial marketing consultant Alex Glover,
who will be one of its directors.
The Financial Word will count three staff including Glover and fellow
director Simon Quarenden, who comes from the Words Group. It has already
won business referred to it from its sister agency, The Graphic Word,
the graphic design subsidiary of The Words Group. Glover, whose previous
clients include US-based asset management group Fidelity and insurance
firm Clerical Medical, has worked in the financial marketing sector for
the past 21 years.
Asset management companies Jardine Lloyd Thompson and Mathesons Capital
Management, both subsidiaries of Hong Kong-based Jardine Mathesons
trading house, appointed the new agency on an annual retainer worth a
six figure fee.
Quarendon said: ’This new hybrid consultancy will blend our existing
experience within the IT industry with our financial expertise. We will
not only be working with financial institutions, we will also advise and
assist IT clients to raise venture capital.’
The Words Group, which was established in 1991, has over 60 clients,
including electronic maufacturers NEC, hardware producers Compuware and
IT consultancy Whittman-Hart. The company had an annual turnover of
pounds 4 million last year.
