Former Bell Pottinger Financial associate director Mark Herbert is
set to return to the agency after a two-year stint as director of
communications at engineering giant TI Group.
The TI Group is currently reviewing how to replace Herbert. Under
consideration is the possible merger of its marketing and communications
departments under one director, a role which would be filled by
Herbert’s replacement.
Herbert joined TI Group in 1996 to head its communications department,
where he managed a team of six. He was responsible for handling all TI
Group’s corporate, public affairs and international PR.
Herbert said: ’I kept in touch with people at Bell and discovered that
there was a mutual interest in my rejoining. I felt I had taken the role
with TI as far as it could go, but, more importantly, I had started to
miss the variety and buzz of consultancy life. I am looking forward to
working again with this highly successful team.’
Herbert worked for Lowe Bell Financial, now Bell Pottinger Financial,
between 1994 and 1996. He will rejoin the agency this week as one of six
directors, reporting to financial managing director David Beck and
chairman Piers Pottinger.
Before joining Lowe Bell, Herbert worked with TI Group four years ago as
an advisor, while he was associate director of Shandwick
Communications.
He worked with Shandwick for three years, managing a team of five. TI
Group has retained Shandwick to handle its financial and corporate PR
for the past 11 years.
TI Group, a FTSE-100 company, is one of Europe’s largest engineering
firms. It employs 38,000 people in 46 countries and had an annual
turnover of pounds 2 billion last year.
