Swedish communications company Ericsson is to create four regional
PR teams in a review of its entire global in-house operation.
The move follows a management review. The PR offices will be located in
London, Hong Kong, Miami, and a fourth to be confirmed in North
America.
Ericsson’s head office will remain in Stockholm, Sweden.
The offices will oversee four market areas: Europe, Middle East and
Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and North America. They will support
local corporate and product PR campaigns.
Ericsson press officer Helena Norrman said that existing PR teams could
be merged or expanded to create the four offices. In some areas jobs
will be cut. Currently, a global staff of around 200 support
communications for the local Ericsson companies which operate in 140
countries.
The move is designed to strengthen the company’s customer focus, by
switching the emphasis from product divisions to customer areas.
Senior communications vice president Lars Stilberg leads a team of five
corporate external relations staff in Stockholm, along with around 15
across different product divisions. He is also responsible for the
company’s worldwide PR staff.
Ericsson currently retains Edelman PR Worldwide for its global PR.
