Hill and Knowlton UK chief executive David McLaren is to step up to

the post of chairman following the retirement of Antony Snow next

January.

In a bid to spread responsibility at the top of the agency, McLaren will

head an expanded management team consisting of two chief executives, a

deputy and a vice-chairman.

The agency’s heads of marketing communications and corporate PR,

respectively Marie-Louise Windeler and Andy Laurence, have been jointly

promoted to replace McLaren.

While McLaren, Windeler and Laurence will be jointly responsible for

H&K’s bottom line, McLaren will also oversee management of the agency’s

core non-client handling functions such as IT systems and its long term

strategy and direction. Windeler and Laurence will take on the

day-to-day running of the agency. In a bid to remove a tier of

management, neither will be replaced as the heads of the agency’s two

largest practices. H&K’s remaining ten divisional heads will report to

them.

Public affairs head Edward Bickham will become deputy chairman, standing

in for McLaren where necessary. Healthcare MD Karen Moyse is promoted to

vice-chairman.
