DUBAI: German national airline Lufthansa has appointed Hill and
Knowlton to promote it in ten countries across the Middle East as part
of the airline’s ongoing global communications review.
The account, which was awarded after a five-way competitive pitch, will
be coordinated from H&K’s Dubai office and will cover the United Arab
Emirates, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Lebanon, Jordan,
Syria and Yemen.
The agency’s initial brief covers media relations and raising the
company’s profile among both business and leisure travellers.
Lufthansa’s PR in the Arabian peninsula was previously handled by
Dubai-based agency Intermarkets, which also pitched for the account.
Markus Ruediger, senior manager, corporate communications for south east
Europe, Africa and the Middle East, said: ’These countries are a growing
market for us. We have had representation out there but need to increase
