Ther week in lobbying

The Cabinet Office is still planning to respond to the public administration select committee's report on lobbying 'soon'. A spokesperson for the office did not rule out the possibility that the much-delayed response could be with the committee by the end of the month.

Bell Pottinger Public Affairs is to sponsor the right-leaning think tank Policy Exchange's party at the Conservative Party conference in Manchester. The party takes place on 7 October. The news comes two weeks after it emerged that Bell Pottinger has cancelled its annual champagne reception, usually held at one of the two main party conferences.

The Association for Consultancy and Engineering has appointed Simon Goldie as director of policy and external affairs. Goldie joins from the Chartered Institute of Taxation, where he was head of communications.

The National Association of Pension Funds has brought in Catherine Mancusi as a policy adviser, reporting to director of policy Nigel Peaple. She was previously a researcher for Conservative MP Nigel Waterson.
