Web hosting company Rackspace wanted to demystify cloud computing - the delivery of applications over the internet - and launch the Cloud Clinic, its guide to cloud computing.
- To raise Rackspace's profile as a provider of cloud computing
- To explain the benefits of cloud computing.
Strategy and plan
Rocket PR worked closely with the marketing and web team at Rackspace to design the Cloud Clinic, which includes a Cloud 101 guide and helps bust myths about cloud computing. It also ran a survey on 'what type of cloud are you?'. Images were linked to the campaign to help explain cloud computing, such as linking Cumulus cloud spikes to the traffic spikes that can be achieved by cloud sites. The campaign also linked content on YouTube, Twitter and through blogs.
Measurement and evaluation
The campaign achieved more than 40 articles across business and IT press. Bloggers, such as CloudAve.com, discussed the survey. Eight briefings across national and IT press were secured including The Daily Telegraph and The Independent.
In the 11 days following the Cloud Clinic launch the site had more than 1,500 visitors. By February, there were 4,424 visitors and 246 sales leads.
