the multi-million pound merger between health groups Norway-based

Nycomed and Amersham International respectively. The deal will form the

largest diagnostic imaging and life sciences company in the world.

The new company, Nycomed Amersham, will be headed up by Amersham chief

executive Bill Castell, with Nycomed chairman Jahn Fredrik Odfjell as

Cameron told PR Week: ’We will start to review the situation now and

expect that the communications departments will not undergo any drastic

change.

’We still have the Norwegian press to service and our work load will be

doubled.’

Nycomed currently has a communications team of eight.

Alan Huw Smith, Amersham’s director of corporate affairs said: ’We are

going to have to look hard at needs in terms of supporting marketing in

different regions.’

Smith currently oversees a team of five, dealing with corporate and

public affairs and assisting with investor relations and financial PR.
