Leading credit card and electronic payment clearing house Europay
has appointed Shandwick public affairs to handle its EU lobbying in
Brussels, the first time Europay has appointed an external consultancy
for the brief.
Shandwick’s task is to monitor issues affecting the growth of Europay in
electronic commerce and make the EU regulatory authorities aware of the
advantages of the technology it uses. ’Regulation can be burdensome and
slow the development of banking systems,’ said Shandwick public affairs
Brussels MD John Russell.
