Crisis comms after Baby P

Social workers and PR professionals are teaming up to advise children's services chiefs on how to handle the media in the wake of a Baby P-type tragedy.

Social care agency Care Matters Partnership has been working with Game Changer, the PR consultancy recently set up by Labour bloggers, to develop the course.

Game Changer MD David Prescott said: 'When a high profile crisis hits an authority, there is a massive risk the media shock will force it into paralysis.'

Agency director Alex Hilton said: 'A reputation that has taken years to build can be destroyed in minutes because of an inappropriate response.'
