DIARY: Fusion results from Chernobyl reaction

Chernobyl seems an odd place for romance to blossom, but that’s exactly what happened for Paul Seaman, media relations manager at the British Nuclear Forum and Swiss journalist Gabriella Battaglia.

Chernobyl seems an odd place for romance to blossom, but that’s exactly

what happened for Paul Seaman, media relations manager at the British

Nuclear Forum and Swiss journalist Gabriella Battaglia.

Seaman was sent to Chernobyl to lend PR support as the world’s media

prepared to commemorate the tenth anniversary of the explosion.

Amid the charged atmosphere of the decaying plant Paul and Gabriella

detonated their own explosive reaction and fell head over heels. But

love’s course never runs smooth, especially when one partner lives in

Berne and the other in London.

Luckily fate stepped in and Paul was offered a job as deputy secretary

general of the European Nuclear Society - based in, you guessed it,

Berne. The couple are to marry in May and no doubt they, and their

nuclear family, will live happily ever after.
