DIARY: Rangers beef up their defence scotch-style

As the nation’s leaders dither in dietary dementia, a grateful nation and beef industry can look to Rangers Football Club for firm leadership.

As the nation’s leaders dither in dietary dementia, a grateful nation

and beef industry can look to Rangers Football Club for firm leadership.

The club released their grandly titled ‘Scottish Beef Policy Statement’

last Friday.

‘The Directors and Catering Management of Rangers Football Club, after

lengthy discussions with suppliers of scotch beef products (sic) have

taken the decision to continue supporting the Scottish beef market,’

says the release.

‘Over the last five days we have been in constant contact with our

suppliers who are reputable traders and we are guaranteed the scotch

beef supplied to Rangers Football Club ‘comes from Scottish cattle all

of which are under 30 months of age and taken from BSE-free herds’.’

Beef fanatics are no doubt drooling at the prospect of racing up the A74

to enjoy one of the 70,000 steaks and 200,000 beef burgers served up by

the club annually.
