London mayor's chief press officer Joe Derrett leaves City Hall

Boris Johnson's deputy chief press officer is leaving to head up comms at Waltham Forest Borough Council.

Waltham Forest has appointed Joe Derrett as head of media and external relations, who is currently the deputy chief press officer in the Mayor of London’s Office.
This is the first vacancy in the Mayor’s press team since Guto Harri was appointed as head of comms in 2008. Derrett reports to chief press officer Samantha Hart.
Derrett has worked in the press office since August 2006, before which he was head of the London Labour Party’s press office. He takes his new role in September.
