MEDIA: Big names get brush off at Talk

Talk Radio’s new programme director Jason Bryant has wasted little time in revamping the station’s line up of presenters with big name hosts Simon Bates, Trevor McDonald and Jonathan King being shown the door.

Talk Radio’s new programme director Jason Bryant has wasted little time

in revamping the station’s line up of presenters with big name hosts

Simon Bates, Trevor McDonald and Jonathan King being shown the door.

Bryant has hired former LBC breakfast show presenter Peter Deeley and

Paul Ross, a former Virgin Radio, Channel 4’s Big Breakfast and Crime

Monthly presenter.

Ross replaces Bates in the breakfast slot which will now start at 6.30

am following the axing of First Report. Deeley will present the

afternoon drive time show, replacing Scott Chisholm who, in turn,

replaces Jonathan King when his contract expires at Easter.

A spokeswoman for Talk Radio said the changes followed research which

showed big name presenters are not enough to impress listeners more

interested in content.
