Bogard Communications has stepped down from its pounds 50,000 plus
account with software house BMC Software after two years, leaving the
firm temporarily without a PR agency in the UK.
The company, which makes data management applications, invited Bogard to
repitch early in March to handle an enlarged pan-European brief, but
Bogard declined the offer and finished working for its client at the end
of last month.
BMC is now seeking a replacement and at the same time is reviewing its
PR support in the rest of Europe.
‘We were reasonable happy with the activity we had so far, but we felt
the need to expand our PR role across Europe,’ said European marketing
director Andy Smith.
Apart from the UK, BMC retains PR consultancies in Denmark, France and
Holland but is also looking for support in Germany, Italy, Spain and
Belgium, where the company set up shop earlier this year.
Smith revealed that he had already asked several UK agencies to take on
the PR activity across Europe and fill the gap left by Bogard, but
declined to say whether he was looking for an international agency or an
independent firm linked to a network.
‘I’m leaving that to the agencies concerned to see how they can manage
things,’ he said.
