Timberland has hired Lynne Franks PR as its retained public relations
consultancy, replacing Andersson Whitehill which resigned from the
account last month (PR Week, 22 March).
Appointed this week, Lynne Franks PR will continue the work started by
its predecessor, focusing on media relations and ad hoc project work for
sponsorship initiatives and product launches.
The company plans to introduce a new range of children’s shoes and
women’s clothing this year and is the official footwear sponsor for
Cowes Week in July.
Lynne Franks PR already has a relationship with Timberland through its
account with watch maker UK Time. The company holds the licence to sell
Timberland watches. The new account is believed to be worth around
pounds 50,000 a year in fees. At least two other agencies pitched for
Sales and marketing manager Michael Lynskey said that Lynne Franks had
been picked because of its experience in the fashion and lifestyle
sector. ‘They understand the brand, where we are going and what we want
to do,’ he said.
