Timberland has hired Lynne Franks PR as its retained public relations

consultancy, replacing Andersson Whitehill which resigned from the

account last month (PR Week, 22 March).

Appointed this week, Lynne Franks PR will continue the work started by

its predecessor, focusing on media relations and ad hoc project work for

sponsorship initiatives and product launches.

The company plans to introduce a new range of children’s shoes and

women’s clothing this year and is the official footwear sponsor for

Cowes Week in July.

Lynne Franks PR already has a relationship with Timberland through its

account with watch maker UK Time. The company holds the licence to sell

Timberland watches. The new account is believed to be worth around

pounds 50,000 a year in fees. At least two other agencies pitched for

the business.

Sales and marketing manager Michael Lynskey said that Lynne Franks had

been picked because of its experience in the fashion and lifestyle

sector. ‘They understand the brand, where we are going and what we want

to do,’ he said.
