Former Market Access International director Joe Baynes has joined
Westminster Strategy to launch a new aerospace and defence group.
Former Army officer Baynes, 36, joined Westminster Strategy as a main
board director this week.
Baynes left Market Access’ defence unit in January. His departure
followed that of unit head Mark Francois in December. Baynes had worked
at MAI for almost eight years, the last four of which he worked almost
exclusively on the Lockheed Martin account.
Commenting on the reasons behind his decision to quit he said that after
eight years with the same company it ‘seemed a sensible move’.
WS does not currently have any defence clients, although Baynes said he
was in talks with several firms. Asked if Lockheed Martin was one of
them, Baynes said: ‘Lockheed is a company I worked with for nearly four
years and in which I retain some close friends. However, I don’t believe
it has any plans to move its business in the short term’.
* Market Access has hired Richard Marsh as an account director to work
on healthcare and general industrial clients. Marsh, 33, has worked in
the Department of Health, Department of National Heritage, DoE and
Conservative Central Office before joining the Prime Minister’s
political office last year.
