Cisco Systems, the US computer networking company, is to review its UK
and European PR account, ending A Plus’s four-year relationship with the
firm.
Based in California’s Silicon Valley, Cisco provides router technology
to link up computer networks within and between companies and
organisations.
A Plus has worked on the firm’s public relations since 1991, mainly
targeting the technical and trade media in the UK and, for the last
three years, has co-ordinated its European PR operations.
The review has been prompted by a series of changes in Cisco’s top
management over the past six months. These include the arrival of Adrian
Weekes as its new UK managing director and two departures - Philippe
Brawerman, formerly European vice president, and former UK marketing
communications manager Frank Leclerc.
Although the company asked A Plus to pitch again for the account, the
agency declined the invitation.
‘They have decided to look around the marketplace,’ explained new
business development director Stan Woods. ‘They asked us to repitch but
we said no.
‘My team and I feel they need a change of air. Relationships end and
both sides have decided it’s the best way.’
