Public Affairs: The Week in Lobbying

Cancer Research UK has appointed BioIndustry Association CEO Aisling Burnand as director of policy and public affairs. Burnand joins in October. She replaces Richard Davidson, who has moved to Mandate Communications as a director.

Care Quality Commission public affairs chief Robert Khan is to join The Law Society of England and Wales as head of law reform. Khan is a former chairman of the CIPR's Government Affairs Group.

Conservative Party prospective parliamentary candidate Kevin Davis has teamed up with former Indigo Public Affairs consultant Nick Kilby to set up a public affairs consultancy named Cratus. Meanwhile, Tory PPC Conor Burns has joined the consultancy PLMR as an associate director.

The European Commission has suspended the chemicals industry association CEFIC from its lobby register. The commission took the action after Friends of the Earth Europe complained CEFIC's declared annual lobbying spend of less than EUR50,000 was 'unrealistically low'.

Facebook profile pages have been created by more than a quarter of MPs, according to a new survey. Woodnewton Associates analysed all 646 MPs to see which had an identifiable Facebook profile page.
