Lowe Bell Political’s hardhitting campaign to stop Post Office
privatisation on behalf of the Union of Communication Workers scooped
the Campaign of the Year award at the PR Week Awards this week.
It also won the Best Public Affairs campaign category.
Financial services specialist Lansons Communications was named as
Consultancy of the Year, and picked up the Best Business Campaign Award
for the second year running with its TaxAction campaign on behalf of IFA
Promotion.
PRCA chairman Quentin Bell picked up the trophy for PR Professional of
the Year for his efforts in raising the profile of PR with business
leaders and opinion formers. And Granada/LWT’s PR team was named In-
House Department of the Year.
Over 1,100 guests packed out the dinner on Tuesday evening. Former
cabinet minister David Mellor was the guest speaker, and the
presentation was compered by Jill Dando.
* The Body Shop, whose campaign on behalf of imprisoned Nigerian author
Ken Saro-Wiwa received commendations in two awards categories, learned
on the day of the awards that Saro-Wiwa had been sentenced to death. The
campaign is continuing in a bid to overturn the sentence.
