Accountability tops agenda at PR conference

The IPR will examine the accountability of the PR industry at its annual national conference in Manchester this month.

The IPR will examine the accountability of the PR industry at its

annual national conference in Manchester this month.



The panel discussion on global accountability will look at the moral

responsibilities of multinational companies, with contributions from

John Vidal, environment editor of the Guardian and Shabanji Opukah of

British American Tobacco. Other items on the agenda include the changes

in political communications after the 1997 election.



Speakers at the two-day event include Guardian editor Alan Rusbridger

and World In Action editor Steve Boulton.



The event will also include a briefing by IPR executive director John

Lavelle on the on-going dispute with the Newspaper Licensing Agency.
