BRUSSELS: Schreiber takes new post



Piers Schreiber, The Rowland Company’s general manager for the Czech

Republic and Slovakia, has been promoted to the new post of business

development manager for central Europe and Russia. Transferring to

Rowland’s Brussels office in May and reporting to chief executive

Stephanie Molyneux (pictured), Schreiber will introduce new business

from western Europe into Rowland’s branches in Hungary, the Czech

Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Russia, promote their capability in the

west and develop crossover business between the two regions. He will be

replaced in Prague by Richard Stacy, a director at Rowland Brussels.



MUNICH: Texas triumph for Herald



Herald Communications has been hired by Texas Instruments’ personal

products division to spearhead a PR drive in the German business market.

The agency, which competed with five other firms for the 12 month

contract, will promote Texas Instruments’ calculators, printers,

electronic diaries and personal digital assistants through the trade,

business and daily press. PR for the personal products division was

previously handled by Martin Esser Werbeagentur of Dusseldorf.



DUBLIN: Gallagher quits Nissan in-house



Nissan Ireland’s advertising and promotions manager Mary Patricia

Gallagher is quitting the firm to set up her own consultancy. Gallagher,

who has led Nissan’s PR, advertising, sponsorship and events activities

for 15 years, leaves at the end of May. Her new firm, Mary Patricia

Gallagher and Associates, will work on Nissan’s Network 2000 campaign

and handle PR, advertising and direct mail projects for other clients.

Nissan has not yet appointed a replacement.



ZURICH: Cabouchon calls on Cornerstone



Costume jewellery marketing firm Cabouchon has hired Cornerstone

Communications to run its media relations activities in Switzerland. The

agency, which was formed by The Rowland Company’s managing director

GeneviĀve Deblander earlier this year, will target women’s publications,

lifestyle magazines and newspaper supplements. Cabouchon, which is

headquartered in London, has also appointed BV Van de Meeberg in Holland

and AC Tiedotus in Finland. It is in the process of recruiting PR

agencies in Norway, Sweden and Belgium.



MOSCOW: ACES are high for Tandem



ACES, the Austrian-based public relations group, has been hired by

Tandem Computers to support its sales drive in Russia. Led by local MD

Alla Bouzova, ACES will manage a PR campaign targeting potential

corporate users through the business and economic press. Tandem opened

its first Russian sales office last year.



VIENNA: Liebowitz leaves GCI eastern



Robin Liebowitz, regional director for the GCI group in central and

eastern Europe, has left the consultancy. Liebowitz coordinated GCI’s

network members in Austria, Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia,

Croatia, Poland, Rumania, Bulgaria and Russia for three years. Her role

will be taken over by Leo Hauska, MD of GCI’s associate in Austria,

Hauska and Partner.
