BMG, the music and entertainment group which owns RCA and Arista
Records, has recruited its first head of corporate communications.
Music PR specialist and executive head of press for Arista Records, Roxy
Meade, will assume the new role at BMG (Bertelsmann Music Group) next
Reporting to BMG’s chairman John Preston, Meade will be responsible for
communicating with the company’s 500 employees and building BMG’s
Meade, who has 16 years music PR experience, said the job will focus on
representing BMG on a ‘trade and City media level’.
Responsibility for BMG’s corporate PR was previously split between Meade
and the head of press at RCA records, Kristina Kyriacou.
Meade joined Arista 16 months ago from entertainment PR agency Poole
Edwards, where she handled artists such as Wet Wet Wet and David Bowie
Her music PR career took off in 1987 when she co-founded Lipsey Meade -
later to become Scott Riseman Lipsey Meade - with Judy Lipsey.
Meade will continue to co-ordinate UK and European PR for one of the
agency’s first big clients Whitney Houston.
BMG UK and Ireland, a subsidiary of BMG Entertainment is planning to
change its name to BMG Entertainment before the end of the year.
The entertainment division of the dollars 13.7 billion German media
enterprise Bertelsmann AG has over 200 music labels in 40 countries as
well as home video and interactive entertainment products.
