Diary: Some PR people would walk across hot coals for a job

Rosalyn Palmer PR’s new board director Jo Lynn is feeling a little

hot under the collar. As part of her initiation, Lynn has been coerced

by her new employers into agreeing to walk a 15-foot course of red hot

coals - bare foot.

The agency’s founder and managing director, Rosalyn Palmer, and her

husband and finance director Mark Palmer, were converted to the benefits

of fire-walking by a client - US personal growth guru Anthony

Robbins.

The Palmers are now determined to put their staff through the same

ordeal.

So Lynn will join fellow self-growers on a short course run by Robbins

in Brussels this summer, entitled ’Unleash the Power Within’.

Unfortunately, there are no photographs to show you of the Rosalyn

Palmer directors treading hot coals. Cameras are banned from the events

because, Lynn tells me, the flash stuns walkers out of their trance at

which point they fall over and become horribly disfigured.

Lynn seems unfazed by her new employers’ eccentricities, which include

the office dog, Poppy PR. ’We’ve all got quite linear training - we’ve

been feng shuied and we still make money,’ she says defiantly.
