EHRC comms chief Kamal Ahmed quits for The Sunday Telegraph

The Equality and Human Rights Commission's comms chief Kamal Ahmed has quit following internal meltdown at the department.

Director of comms Ahmed is set to join the Sunday Telegraph as business editor.

He is the latest in a series of senior colleagues to resign as pressure grows on the body’s head Trevor Phillips to step down.

Ahmed only moved into PR at the end of 2007 from The Observer, where he was executive editor, news.

Ahmed declined to comment. The EHRC said it would be making a statement later on today.

Ahmed's appointment at The Sunday Telegraph follows news that city editor Mark Kleinman is leaving to join Sky News as business editor in the autumn.
