Alasdair Sutherland, Manning Selvage and Lee’s European strategic

development director, is leaving his London base to expand the agency’s

presence in France.

Next month Sutherland will move permanently to Paris to head up a new

entity, MS&L France, and develop its relationship with the agency’s new

French affiliate Beau Fixe.

Based at Beau Fixe’s offices, he will continue his existing role as

co-ordinator for MS&L’s network of 23 wholly owned offices and

affiliates in Europe and will also handle work for international

clients.

Those clients include financial assets management firm State Street

Boston Corporation, which has hired MS&L to promote its services in the

UK, France, Belgium and Germany.

The company is trying to move away from its traditional image as a

provider of custody services for financial assets and to position itself

instead as a firm that can cater to the needs of institutional investors

such as pension funds, insurance companies and mutual funds. Sutherland

will act as the regional co-ordinator on the account.

Sutherland’s move to France sees MS&L’s principal European directors -

Jackie Elliot, Jurgen Togotzes and Sutherland himself - located in three

of its most important PR markets - London, Frankfurt and Paris.

’We are a company with a lean management structure and with only three

senior people it is better to have them in one country each,’ said

Sutherland.

’I haven’t been as closely connected with London since 1994 and Jackie

has really been running the show.’
