The Reading Agency: encourage reading

The charity’s mission is to encourage people to read more. It runs a series of national initiatives (such as the Summer Reading Challenge and the Costa Six Book Challenge).

Colman Getty has been brought in for a 12 month contract to increase awareness of the organisation in mainstream news and consumer press. Up until now, it has received more coverage in regional and trade media.

The agency will develop the charity’s key messages and position statements, and will run a thought leadership work, trying to profile its executive team and expert speakers. It will also plan and execute three campaigns throughout the year around teenagers, the educational impact of reading and adult literacy.

The first campaign will kick off in September, and will encourage teenagers to discover ‘the joys of reading’. It will not focus specifically on books, but everything including manga, magazines, song lyrics and film scripts.

The Reading Agency is funded by the Arts Council and the Museums, Libraries and Archives Council, and works in partnership with public libraries, publishers and other reading partners.
