Epson, one of the world’s top printer manufacturers, has
shortlisted four agencies for its UK and Ireland PR.
The company is hearing pitches from Grant Butler Coomber, Ketchum,
Manning Selvage and Lee and The Reputation Managers for the consumer and
Incumbent agency Berkeley PR, which held the account for around four
years, agreed with Epson not to repitch.
Epson wants to promote its diverse range of products to a wider
audience, with a particular emphasis on the consumer market.
Epson’s printers are targeted at the home user, the corporate market and
pre-press and graphic design companies.
Six agencies were initially seen for the account, before the final
shortlist of four was drawn up.
Epson PR manager Mary McNulty said the brief was ’a consumer push while
maintaining a dominance in the trade and IT market’.
She added that the agency will be attempting to gain coverage in the
consumer and trade press as technology advances and the trend for
working from home grows.
Part of the Seiko Epson group, Epson produces printers and has around 25
per cent of the world ink-jet printer market. It also makes digital
cameras, scanners and laser printers.
The firm’s rivals include Hewlett-Packard and Canon.
