Jeremy Clark: leaving Huntsworth
Jeremy Clark: leaving Huntsworth

Healthcare PR stalwart Jeremy Clark is leaving Huntsworth later this year and is understood to be planning to launch his own healthcare PR agency.

The news follows the acquisition of rival shop Tonic Life Communications by parent group Huntsworth last week (PRWeek, 17 July).

Clark joined Huntsworth Health last year to head its med ed offering, based at its Marlow office. He started in the newly created role last June, reporting to chief executive Sandy Royden. He was brought on board to develop the agency’s pan-European medical comms portfolio.

Clark joined Huntsworth Health from Cohn & Wolfe. He had previously been joint MD in C&W’s London healthcare division before moving to the US in September 2006 to become MD of its New York healthcare arm. He returned to the UK after less than a year to take on the role of business development director.

Huntsworth Health group CEO David Rowley said of his departure: ‘Jeremy is leaving and is wanting to potentially set up his own agency. We are disappointed as he hadn’t been here long. He is initially  planning to do some consultancy work.’

Clark could not be reached for comment as PRWeek went to press.

Tonic was bought last week for an initial payment of £3m, to bolster Huntsworth’s healthcare PR offering.

‘There are more announcements pending,’ said Rowley. ‘We are looking at how we manage our PR business going forward and this will involve Tonic.’

Tonic will continue to be managed by group CEO Scott Clark and MD Oliver Parsons, both of whom are Tonic founders.  Moira Gitsham, another of the founding trio, will also continue to serve as a director. Neil Flash will take on a new and expanded role as MD of Tonic London. The Tonic board reports directly
to Rowley.

The acquisition was the second healthcare agency buyout this month after Euro RSCG Life bought healthcare shop Medicom Group for an undisclosed sum (PRWeek, 3 July).
