Robbie Burns must have been turning in his grave on Wednesday as that
male bastion, the Caledonian Club, played host to the Association of
Women in Public Relations.
The AGM found the female movers and shakers in the PR industry indulging
in a little navel gazing. After all, what can be the role of the
association now the industry employs more women then men?
Even the Caledonian now admits associate female members and the odds are
on that its trawl for a new in-house PR will turn up a female
practitioner.
Ylva French was re-elected for a second term as president and the
subject of association patrons was also discussed. Names up for not
necessarily serious consideration included Lady Howe, Jean Denton and
Baroness Thatcher.
