B-M resigns Procter and Gamble work
Burson-Marsteller is quitting its business with Procter and Gamble at
the end of this year. The move coincides with increasing work for rival
conglomerate Unilever. B-M scooped Unilever’s global corporate PR
account in August (PR Week 23 August).
Text 100 keeps mum on flotation rumours
Text 100 has declined to comment on suggestions that it is considering a
stock market flotation. Andy West, group marketing director, said that
the agency would continue to expand organically or through acquisitions,
if appropriate.
Westminster backs sports academy bid
Westminster Strategy has been hired by the Central Consortium to support
its bid to build the British Academy of Sport. The academy will be
funded by pounds 100 million of lottery cash.
Samuel and Farr secure BBC Broadcast jobs
BBC Broadcast, the BBC’s new scheduling and commissioning arm, has given
Keith Samuel, BBC TV’s controller of publicity and PR, the same post in
the new organisation. It has also appointed Sue Farr, BBC Network
Radio’s head of marketing and publicity, as controller of marketing.
Consolidated to push accident helpline
The Law Society has called on Consolidated Communications to raise
awareness of Accident Line, its personal injury telephone helpline,
among the ‘tabloid’ mass market.
Amerasekera heads Thomson advertising
Russell Amerasekera, Thomson Holidays’ director of communications has
also assumed responsibility for advertising, following the promotion of
marketing director Richard Bowden-Doyle to deputy managing director.
Tavistock launches new crisis service
Tavistock Communications has teamed up with risk management and
insurance broking firm Marsh and McLennan FINPRO to launch a crisis
communications service for businesses. The insurance covers the costs of
advice and implementing a crisis management programme.
Griffiths in Red Cross internal comms move
Dorothy Griffiths is joining the British Red Cross Society next week as
head of internal communications and information. Formerly community
affairs manager at London Electricity, Griffiths will devise and
implement an internal communications policy for staff and volunteers.
TCG to promote Hermes Liberty pensions
The Communication Group is to handle PR for Hermes Liberty International
Pensions, the specialist investment company set up last week by Liberty
International Holdings. TCG was hired by Liberty in the summer after the
company embarked on a public relations review (PR Week, 5 July).
Shilland gets cracking on nut snack launch
Trigon Snacks has hired Shilland and Co to launch Lounge Lizard, its new
range of nut snacks. The agency was hired without a competitive pitch.
Name change for music PR Laister Dickson
Music PR firm Laister Dickson has changed its name to LD Publicity. The
agency, which counts The Rolling Stones, Tina Turner and Mariah Carey
among its clients, has also recruited Sallie Johnson, Island Records’
deputy head of press, to develop indie and new music business.
